still

LIR RESPATI BUMIDAYA
t's a song that my grandma and her sister's used to sing, and as she sang it, it brought tears to everyone's eyes.

Before my grandma's death in 2009, 3 of my uncles passed away.  After their funerals, we would all gather, hand in hand, and sing this song again.

At my grandma's funeral, those of her sisters who were still alive, led us in song once again.  My grandma had always talked about her and her sisters singing, but I never got the full impact of it until that day.  Their voices filled the chapel as we all gathered hand in hand once again, this time around my grandma, and sang the song for her.

The song for me, remains an unspoken promise to each family member.  The promise to remain intact, and not let our differences or bitterness tear our family apart.  To keep memories and traditions alive for those new babies born, that they may know the love and happiness that comes from having a big family.
